Sculptra® Treatments in Plymouth

As we age, our skin gradually loses the collagen that keeps it firm, structured, and glowing, losing around 1% every year after the age of 20.

Rather than masking this with volume, a collagen-stimulating treatment works with your body to rebuild what's been lost, from within. At Arielle Louise Aesthetics, this is achieved using Sculptra®, a clinically proven, biostimulatory injectable that delivers results lasting up to two years.

SCULPTRA® Collagen Stimulating Treatment

TREATMENT DESCRIPTION

Sculptra® is a collagen-stimulating treatment, and it's genuinely not just another filler. Rather than adding volume beneath the skin, it works by gently triggering your own body to produce new collagen, gradually rebuilding the structural foundation that naturally diminishes with age. The result is a firmer, more refreshed appearance that builds progressively over time, rather than an instant change.

This makes Sculptra® particularly effective for concerns related to overall skin quality and structure, rather than isolated volume loss. Areas like accordion lines (the lines that appear around the mouth when smiling), temple hollowing, jawline definition, and general fine lines and loss of luminosity all respond well to this gradual rebuilding process.

Because collagen production takes time, results aren't immediate. Most clients begin to notice a difference from around one month after treatment, with full results developing over the following months as new collagen is laid down. The effect can last up to two years, making this one of the longest-lasting collagen-boosting treatments available.

A course of treatment is recommended for the best results: at least two sessions for clients in their thirties and forties, and three sessions for clients over fifty, with each session spaced eight weeks apart.

WHAT IT TREATS:

  • Accordion lines (smile lines around the mouth)

  • Temple hollowing and volume loss

  • Jawline definition and skin tightness

  • General fine lines and loss of luminosity

  • Overall loss of skin structure and firmness

  • Collagen depletion related to ageing

Understanding Collagen Stimulating Treatments

What is a collagen boosting treatment and how does it work?

A collagen boosting, or collagen stimulating, treatment works by encouraging your own body to produce new collagen, rather than simply adding volume from an external source. At Arielle Louise Aesthetics, this is achieved using Sculptra, an injectable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) treatment that's biocompatible and biodegradable, and has been used safely in medicine for decades.

After age 20, the body loses approximately 1% of its natural collagen every year. Rather than masking the effects of this gradual loss on the surface, a collagen stimulating treatment works to counteract it from within, gently activating your own fibroblast cells to rebuild the skin's structural foundation.

Why do results take time to appear?

Because collagen boosting treatments work by stimulating your own body's natural processes, the results unfold gradually rather than appearing instantly. This is actually one of the key strengths of this type of treatment, the change happens so subtly over weeks and months that people tend to notice you looking well, rather than noticing you've had anything done. Most clients see initial results from around one month after treatment, with continued improvement as new collagen builds over the following months.

Collagen boosters vs dermal filler vs polynucleotides — what's the difference?

These three treatments all work differently, and understanding the distinction helps in choosing the right one for your goals. Dermal filler adds immediate, physical volume beneath the skin, ideal for restoring lost structure in a specific area straight away. Polynucleotides work by activating the skin's own regenerative processes at a cellular level, improving texture, hydration, and overall skin quality. A dedicated collagen stimulating treatment like Sculptra sits distinctly from both, it specifically and powerfully stimulates new collagen production across a broader area, making it particularly effective for overall facial structure, firmness, and that deep, lasting glow. Many clients combine treatments as part of a wider skin health plan, Arielle can advise on the best approach for you at consultation.

Why choose a nurse-led clinic for collagen boosting treatment in Plymouth?

Sculptra has genuinely unique injection requirements compared to standard dermal fillers, and is intended to only be administered by a trained healthcare practitioner. Correct dilution, injection depth, and technique all directly affect both safety and the quality of your results. Arielle's background as a registered nurse and independent prescriber means she brings genuine clinical training to this more technically demanding treatment, not just a short course in product application.
